Repairing Smartphones and Tablets

Lets start with the simple repair - 3rd gen iPod touch (which is technically a 2nd gen - keep that in mind when ordering your replacement parts). Replacing the cracked glass on this was a 30 minute job tops. Tools needed were hair dryer (heat up the device so the glue that holds the screen warms up to allow for removal), a straight blade (razorblade, sharp non-serrated knife, guitar pics, etc), a microfiber cloth and of course your new glass. Carefully pry around the edges of the device and remove the busted glass - be extra careful at the top left because this is where the digitizer makes the connection to the lcd - there are clips on each side of the iPod, so an eyeglass repair flathead screw driver might make an easier job. Pry gently on the old digitizer connection to release and no the broken glass should be free. Make sure to wipe down the lcd very careful with the microfiber cloth as well as the inside of the new glass screen to ensure there are no dust or any particles that could cause issues after replacement. Scoured the web in search of assistance with this one, but could not find any concrete help with fixing this. So, what I did was disassemble the tablet completely...took apart everything, disconnected every ribbon, connection, etc and reassembled. Check out much more here;
